Photographing abandoned places is a special endeavour for me, as it combines my expertise in architectural photography which I do professionally, with my love of nature, art photography and more creative processes. I also have an appreciation for the theme on a deeper level. There is much to be learnt from our derelict history, both in the nature of the footprints left by civilization and how their existence is challenged by the process of wild reclamation. It's a subject full of contrasts. It's important to remember the death inherent within progress. Keeping this in mind is crucial to shaping our legacy as we plan our future developments.
Although I find real beauty in the gloom, eeriness and contrasts of these works, I understand that they are not typical of the more decorative subject matter people want to frame on their walls, and so I have not put the majority of these in my print store, but if any of you are interested in these as prints, I would be tremendously happy to oblige you- just send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org or though the contact form!
